Introduction |
|
“To develop Human Resources
for improvement of hearth status of the people of Sargodha” , Sargodha Medical College
(SMC) has recently been established as the constituent college of University of
Sargodha. It is the first ever public sector Medical College in Punjab established
by the University of Sargodha (UOS), a public sector University under an education
department. In this regard,
this is a unique experiment. Hoping it will stand on the top of the list of medical
colleges, helping the suffering mankind. Sargodha Medical College (SMC) has
been established recently as a constituent college of University of Sargodha on
the directions of the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It is the first
ever public sector medical college in the Punjab run by a University of an Education
Department. Sargodha Medical College offers a five year degree programme of MBBS.
Community Oriented Medical Education (COME) curriculum offered by the college is
in Line with the one recommended by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC),
Islamabad and University of Health Sciences, Lahore. The construction of new college
building is in progress and expected to be completed within next 2 years at Sargodha-Faisalabad
Road. Presently, the classes are running in the University Campus at Old Johar Block.
The District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Sargodha has been attached as Teaching
Hospital for the clinical training of the students. |

Recognition by PM & DC |
|
Sargodha Medical College is a recognized
college for MBBS classes by PM & DC Islamabad vide letter No. F.3-10/2007-MER
dated 15.05.2007. |

Affiliation |
|
Sargodha Medical College is affiliated
with the University of Health Sciences, Lahore for the purpose of examination /
award of MBBS degree. |
|
Admission Policy |
|
Admission to Sargodha Medical College
for the five-year MBBS degree course is open to all individual having domicile of
Punjab Province and meeting the selection criteria laid down in the prospectus and
are in accordance with Health Department, Government of Punjab. The number of students
admitted is 100 (out the total 100 seats, 20 seats are reserved for foreign candidates)
per session as per PM & DC and UHS permission.

Fee Structure
|
|
The admission & tuition fee will
be charged according to the policy of Government of Punjab. |

Admission Process |
|
Government of Punjab admission rules
will be followed. All the applicants who will appear and qualify the Government
of the Punjab entry test shall be eligible to apply for admission in Sargodha Medical
College. Only candidates coming on merit shall be selected. The admission process
shall be completed as directed by the Chancellor / Governor of Punjab. The next
session will start in October, this year inshallah. |

New Campus |
|
Government of the Punjab has allotted
50 Acres of land on Sargodha-Faisalabad Road for construction of New Campus of Medical
College. Additional 50 Acres land allotment is in process and will be made available
for the 500-bed teaching hospital. After survey of land and Geo-technical reports,
the consultants have prepared Architectural Design and Master Plan. Tenders launched
for construction of new college building and construction work has been started
already, expected to be completed within next 2 years subject to availability of
funds. |

Project Execution

In order to start the Medical College
in the University premises and to execute the new Campus, following Project Staff
has been hired already by the University of Sargodha.
